Born to a U.S. army officer, Greg spent most of his childhood traveling from base to base. While growing up, he attended 10 different schools along with his two brothers and twin sister, including two in Germany. He and his family finally settled in Michigan when his father retired. There, Greg attended Western Michigan University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre. He also studied with the British American Dramatic Academy in Oxford. Greg's first professional gig was at the Barn Theater in Augusta, Michigan, home to many famous alums such as Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Wopat and Jennifer Garner to name a few. Winter later moved to Chicago where he trained with The Second City and The Improv Olympic before landing the role of Cody on The Chris Isaak Show (2001), marking his television debut. He has since moved to Los Angeles.
