Cassie Ray

Cassie Ray is an actress, singer and dancer based in NYC. She has a BA in Performing Arts from the University of Tampa with a minor in dance under the instruction of Dr. Susan Taylor Lennon. Cassie has trained with many of the greats including Shirley Maclain, Jeff Goldblum, Ben Vereen and more at Broadway Theater Project. At University she received an Irene Ryan Nomination for her portrayal of Sylvia in the play The Women, and her favorite role was Beth in Little Women. Her first professional show was the National Tour of Sesame Street Live as a singer. Shortly after tour she booked a show as a principal dancer for the Main Stage shows at both the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and Fallsview Casino & Resort in Niagara Falls. After a couple of years performing on the road and in casino's, Cassie decided to come and stay a while in NYC to continue her studies. She now works directly with Kelly Kimball for TV/Film at Kimball Studios, Will Bryan for voice, The Growing Studio and Primary stages ESPA for theater performance. She has also worked directly with the lovely Stewart Pearce for speech and diction. More recently Cassie performed in Kabarett Weinmar with The Queensborough Theater Project under the direction of Christopher Sloan. She has performed in many cabarets around NYC with up and coming songwriters, developing their new music. Cassie is a Katonah Yoga® instructor and the founder of Practice Your Magic(TM) an integrative yoga and wellness brand that seeks to help people learn tricks and tonics to find Magic & Joy in their everyday lives. She continues to grow and learn in NYC, study theater, dance & yoga, and is always seeking out new opportunities to perform and teach.

She has had many influential teachers throughout her life, one of the most influential being her high school theatre teacher, Travia Steward. Steward inspired Cassie to pursue acting after high school. Cassie majored in theatre in college and has been acting in films, TV and commercials since 2006. Along with singing, she writes, directs and produces plays and musicals.

The aspiring Canadian actress is best known for her role as Manny Santos on 10 seasons of the internationally acclaimed drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Cassie was a 2003 nominee and the 2002 winner of a Young Artist Award for Best Ensemble Actor in a TV Series for her portrayal of Manny Santos. THE L.A. COMPLEX will premiere in Canada starting on January 12, 2012. Cassie's other television credits include a lead role in the Disney MOW Lamont's Maccabees, young Sydney in the series Relic Hunter (2002 Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a TV Drama Series), Julie in Full Court Miracle (2004 Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a TV Movie), and a guest appearance on Doc. In the summer of 2007 Cassie played the role of Blu in three episodes of the hit CTV dramatic series Instant Star. Cassie's love of the arts extends beyond acting. As a talented singer/songwriter, Cassie released her debut album "How Much for Happy" in 2005 and her second album "Destructo Doll" in July 2009. Cassie is currently hard at work on her third album. When Cassie is not working on set she can be found painting, taking photos, spending time with her friends, swimming, and working out with her trainer. She also spends 99% of her time with her dogs.
