Born and raised in Central Arkansas, Carmen grew up with a passion for film and acting. She is a mother to one amazing daughter, Jillian, and she is a massage therapist, and animal lover. After being cast in roles as a courtroom observer in God's Not Dead 2 and a jury member in the upcoming film Gosnell: America's Biggest Serial Killer, Carmen decided to pursue a career in acting. She was cast in a couple of short films produced by the University of Central Arkansas, as well as a couple of other independent films. She went on to play principal roles in two upcoming feature films, Close Calls directed by Richard Stringham, and It Knows directed by Mark Maness and Rob Winfrey. Carmen has appeared in several commercials, done spokesperson work, & modeled, and has been cast in several upcoming film projects.

After graduating American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Carmen Peláez wrote her first solo play Rum & Coke which she performed to raves in NY, LA, Chicago and Miami culminating in an award winning off Broadway run in 2008. In 2012, Carmen Peláez won the HBO NYLFF Short Film Competition with The Acting Lesson, which she co-directed and followed up with her short, A Queen Without His Crown and most recently directed the short, Mango Season for which she received an honorable mention at the 2020 Miami International Film Festival. IN 2020 she was commissioned by Oolite to create the short doc Caridad y Gallo as part of their Close Quarters Series. Miami post Brooklyn has been a joy after having found a theatrical home at Miami New Drama at the Colony theater which premiered her play Fake in 2019, commissioned Strapped for its Seven Deadly Sins in 2020, winner of the 2020 Drama League Award and commissioned her new play The Cuban Vote set to open in April of 2022 which she will also star in. To compliment her narrative work, she consulted on Netflix's One Day at a Time, the Story House Juguetes Perdidos project and Apple TV's Little America. She also was a contributor for NBC Latino and has written essays for Marie Claire, Huffington Post and the New York Times. Carmen has proudly worked on President Barack Obama's Cuba policy team and is on President Biden's Cuba advisory team. In 2022, she is developing a series Tropical Beasts as well as her first feature, Caridad.
